You fall asleep by mid-day morning
And I ask you what you've done,
You tell me "I was working
When you went to bed at one."
All too well I know this is a lie
'Cause I was up past three.
Waiting for my darling dear
To happily come home to me.
Do you lead a Secret Life?
One to play without your wife?
Do you seek another's arms?
To comfort you from daily harm?
You work all day and sometimes night,
But I cannot question why.
You say, "Oh darling dear, you're paranoid,"
As you wave from your car goodbye.
My head is in my lap now
As I watch you drive away.
I realize I should pack my bags,
Write, "I'm leaving you today."
Do you have a mistress now?
Does she kiss you on the brow?
If she now can do that for you?
How is it that you need me too?
I write this letter, "Oh darling dear,
I lead a Secret Life.
You see, I went to someone else,
You neglected affection to your wife.
And when you fall asleep
By mid-day morning sun,
I lock the door behind me too
Just past the hour of one."
